Green Therapy: Golf for Stress Relief

posted in: News

Did you know April is Stress Awareness Month? Perfect timing for us to shine a light on golf and the many benefits it has on our physical and mental wellbeing.

Playing golf releases those all-important, feel-good endorphins helping to combat anxiety and depression (assuming you’re not fishing your ball out of the water for the second time, on the same hole that is!)

Pressures of day-to-day life, work and juggling family commitments can really weigh heavy on us at times, so getting out for some green therapy can provide the perfect antidote. By keeping our brains active and in concentration mode, we focus on the task in hand which helps us take our minds off whatever’s making us feel stressed or anxious.

Backed by scientific research published in 2019, immersing ourselves in a beautiful, open, green space for a couple of hours a week does wonders – golf really is the gift that keeps on giving; friendship, solitude, escapism, mental fortitude, low impact exercise, a full body workout, fresh air, better sleep, the challenge…

If you don’t think you’ve got time for 18 holes of green therapy, our fabulous 9-hole course is compact, an average golfer can get round in well under an hour and a half – the perfect way to wind down after a hard day. Or if you can’t seem to fit golf into your busy day, be the early bird and catch the worm – the course is particularly beautiful at 7am.

Don’t hang around – now is the perfect time to be part of one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. To try some green therapy for yourself, speak to our club Therapist Professional, Tom Clancy on 0161 491 4452.

You’ll soon notice we’re a very happy, welcoming bunch. Maybe that’s because we practice what we preach!

We hope to see you soon,
