125 Year Commemorative Match

posted in: News

The first match played by Cheadle Ladies back in 1896 was against a team from Didsbury Ladies, and as part of the 125 Year Celebrations of the Ladies section, Didsbury were invited to send a team to commemorate the occasion with a rematch.

Unfortunately the weather was not kind on the day and the planned 18-hole competition had to be reduced to a 9-hole event. The conditions also impacted on the plans of many of the ladies to play in Victorian costume, however wet golfing attire was swapped for Period Dress at the end of play in readiness for afternoon tea in the function room.

Cheadle Ladies were victors on the day, and with a return fixture planned for next month, Didsbury Ladies will not have to wait too long before getting their chance to level the score.
