Last weekend saw Cheadle Golf Clubs annual weekend away take place at Ramside Hall near Durham
organized by Mr Captain Matt Withers.
Players, wives and partners enjoyed a 3-day tournament with 3 different stableford competitions
played on 2 different courses. Saturday 27 th August saw a team event of 2 players per team playing a
betterball competition won by Martin Broomhead and Alastair Culpan. John Regan and Jim Hall were
nearest the pin winners on the day. Everybody enjoyed an informal carvery meal in the evening.
The competition on Sunday 28 th August was a 4 ball betterball won by Steve Owen, Hugh Bilby, Mr
Captain and John Regan. Nearest the pin winners on this day were Lady Vice Captain Sue Shaw and
Mr Captain. The evening saw Cheadle members and guests enjoy a private meal followed by an
excellent quiz provided by Adele Gregory with Mr Chairman Nigel Day’s table being the winners.
Finally on Monday 29 th August players competed in an individual stableford competition won by Lady
Captain Jayne Warren. Nearest the pin winners were Mr Captain and Paul Warren.
All the weekend scores were added together with the overall winner of the weekend being Lady
Captain.
Congratulations to all the winners and special thanks to Mr Captain for organizing an excellent
weekend and extra special thanks to Sharon Withers for providing competition course scored cards
with detail that people could actually read!
