Last Saturday (11th March) saw the playing of the Scott Thomas AM AM, played in recognition of Scott’s service as Head Greenkeeper to Cheadle Golf Club for the past 12 years. Scott is moving on to pastures new and leaves with the best of wishes from all at the club. The competition was open to all members which enabled those who don’t normally qualify to play on a Saturday to do so.
A total of 60 players took part in the competition with the winners being the team of Jay Dempsey, Tony Gallagher, Anthony Fisher and Andy Burns with an excellent total of 88 points. Nearest the pin winners were Ray Boland on 5th/14th and Jordan Walker on 9th/18th.
During the presentation conducted by Mr Captain Matt Withers, Mr Chairman Nigel Day spoke of the improvements made to the course and greens due to Scott’s skills over the years, and invited those present to sing our appreciation to Scott as is customary on such occasions. Whilst he may be leaving his role Scott will always be welcome at Cheadle.
