At the Ladies AGM Debbie Owens made the vote of thanks to the Lady Captain with the following poem:
Vote of thanks to Lady Captain
For my first year as Silver I’d like to begin
With a ‘thank you’ for how you’ve all welcomed me in
Golf is only our hobby, I think someone once said
We love it! We hate it! It gets in our heads
We’ve played foursomes and greensomes and stableford scores
An exchange day, a drive in, medals, friendlies and more
Some played through a heat wave, they don’t want to again
Some now play on a Saturday in with the men
We’ve scrambled, rolled dice and we’ve hit coloured balls
Then we’ve had our Welsh rarebit after it all
Clubs, covers, hats, raincoats – the things you can find
When Jayne drives off first and you follow behind
On the course she looks smart in her yellow and blue
Well, it’s probably her, although maybe it’s Sue?
Jayne keeps us informed with when, where and why
But there’s really (no really) no need to reply
At the Tytherington Club we had a weekend not to miss
There were bunkers. There was food. And not forgetting …that quiz!
Jayne’s favourite tables? Times tables! Who knew?
And the boat of her choice? Obvious. A canoe!
We’ve all seen Dirty Dancing, wow can they dance!
Jayne’s version was great, just more comedy than romance
But she gave it her all, as she of course always does
Getting stuff done with no drama or fuss
She’s up for a laugh, warm, thoughtful and kind
Always happy to help, one of the best you could find
We’ve had triumphs, disasters, laughter and tears
But with Jayne as our Captain we’ve had a great year
For me she’s been fab and I’m sure for you too
So now a vote of thanks for Lady Captain is what
I propose we should do
